Te Awe Library, the last of a series of pop-up libraries recently created by Wellington City Council, is a fun and inviting space with an enticing Aotearoa birds theme.
When Te Awe Library opens its doors it will showcase collaborative nature-themed murals, designed by primary school children and Creative and Brand. The name ‘Te Awe’ means ‘White Feathers’ in Māori, and became the theme behind the designs. The design team worked with children from Kelburn Normal Primary School and Clyde Quay School (aged 5 - 8 years), using their ideas in the final mural design.
Herriot Melhuish O'Neill Architects led the interior design of this inspiring space that features natural textures and bright colours to support the Aotearoa birds theme, including a tree-house style kids’ corner where children can climb up and nestle with a book. The result is a creative, flexible community space where the public can relax, study and socialise daily.
Aspect have been the preferred furniture supplier for the entire series of pop-up libraries in Wellington over the past 12 months, due to our great service and wide selection. For the Te Awe Library fit-out, the Aspect team met the brief with a range of soft seating options that were customised with matching colour and fabric selections. Our Stork leaners in a natural timber finish were paired with Wrap stools to create collaborative and informal study spaces. Handy stools, custom ottomans and Agility pedestal tables complete the kids’ corner.
After successful completion of the pop-up projects, the Aspect team were highly recommended by the Wellington City Council project manager.
